Outline of Final Research Achievements |
For the first time in Japan, we have found a large family with strongly suspected autosomal dominant inheritance of lung cancer, in which 24 people develop lung cancer over three generations. To identify pathogenic gene mutations in familial lung cancer, we analyzed the genomes of 3 lung cancer patients and 6 healthy individuals in the same family using a next-generation sequencer. The results suggest that mutations in the gene on chromosome 19 and mutations found in a gene on chromosome 17 may be involved in the development of lung cancer in this family.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究において検討される肺腺癌関連遺伝子は、その強い遺伝性と高い発がん性、そして肺腺癌特異性から考えて、弧発性肺腺癌においても肺腺癌発症の key molecule である可能性が高く、肺癌のみならず他の癌においても発癌の本質的なメカニズムに関与している可能性がある。この遺伝子の変異を明らかにできれば、肺腺癌発症のメカニズム解明と新たな診断法や治療薬の開発にもつながると期待される。
