Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we aimed to develop a novel method for the diagnosis of lymph node metastasis in cervical and endometrial cancers using Super Paramagnetic Iron Oxide (SPIO).
Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the cervix using superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) showed a preoperative positive diagnosis rate of 85%, which was higher than that of CT (67%) and PET-CT (71%).
In addition, it was suggested that SPIO could be an alternative tracer to radioisotope, and that sentinel lymph nodes could be identified using SPIO.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
