Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study is to implement a remote support program from Japan after clarifying the problems and support needs of Japanese women who spend their perinatal and child-rearing periods overseas due to their husband's overseas assignment. Below are the implementation details and results. (1) In Jakarta, Indonesia, we conducted an interview survey with Japanese women raising children and clarified various ideas on themes in this field. (2) A web survey was conducted on Japanese mothers who lived in Indonesia or returned to Japan temporarily. (3) As an intervention, we conducted a web course "Parent-Child Health Class" using ZOOM for Japanese living overseas who are raising children, and confirmed the possibility and issues of remote support.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

インタビュー調査やWEB調査により、海外で子育てをする日本人女性のおかれている状況や様々な思い、支援ニーズについて明らかにし、それらをふまえたWEB講座「親と子の健康教室」の実施を通して、海外在住であるがゆえの制約などから、海外地域の情報を十分反映した情報提供の必要性など、今後の課題とする点についても知見を得た。研究期間の中で起こったCOVID-19パンデミックにより、遠隔医療や教育は世界的にその重要性を増している現在、WEBを介した遠隔支援は、すでにスタンダードなサービスの一つとなっている。今後はWEBを用いた遠隔支援と対面支援を融合させた支援の在り方を模索する必要性があることを確認した。
