Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Over the past year the data collection was completed for an fMRI tDCS experiment investigating attention modulation in a dual task paradigm. The brain was stimulated in the right dorsal prefrontal cortex simultaneous with fMRI scanning during training. Resting state brain activity and task activity was recorded by fMRI pre during and post training. In total 25 subjects were ran in this experiment. In a separate experiment tDCS was used to modulate skill performance on an audio motor task. Resting state and task related EEG was recorded pre and post tDCS stimulation. Conditions included stim and sham as well as two different training types. Task related audio-motor and task unrelated audio motor. Data was collected for 60 subjects.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The collection of data was delayed due to difficulties related to restrictions resulting from procedures to combat Covid19. It took a longer than normal time to collect the data so the schedule is slightly behind what was predicted. Extreme care was taken to follow protocols for safety in collecting EEG data and performing tDCS on subjects.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The future plans for the research include analysis of the collected data for the fMRI tDCS audio, visual motor experiment and the EEG tDCS study of the audio training experiment. Analysis of the fMRI data will be carried out using Statistical Parametric Mapping software in Matlab. The analysis of EEG data will be carried out using EEGLab in Matlab. Once the results are determined journal articles will be written and the findings will be presented at international conferences.

Causes of Carryover |
The reason for incurring the amount to be used for next fiscal year was due to inconvenience caused by covid 19. Much of the money is planned to be used for international trips to work with collaborators on the project and to present the results at international conferences. The money this year is to be used for international business trips if travel restrictions due to covid 19 are removed. An additional laptop computer may also be purchased for analysis.
