Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In early 2020, the researcher saw a major aspect of her project come to fruition upon the publication of her first monograph. The researcher submitted one full-length research article to a major American journal in late 2019, for which she awaits a response from the editors. Her abstract was accepted for a paper presentation at a conference hosted by the Finnish Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies. Originally scheduled for 20-21 March 2020 in Helsinki, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organizers are working on holding the conference in autumn 2020 or later, in which the researcher plans to participate and present.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The researcher deems it fitting to consider that the project is progressing at a favorable rate, as the results have culminated in the appearance of a book with two hundred and eighty pages. It is a work in which she revised her doctoral dissertation and added new material and analysis. Submission of a research article of eight thousand words was completed in late 2019, for which the researcher currently awaits a decision from the editors. She was scheduled to deliver a paper at an international conference in Finland. The said conference did not take place in March 2020 due to the effects of COVID-19, but the organizers are planning to postpone it to autumn 2020 or later, at which time the researcher will be given an opportunity to present.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
For FY2020, the researcher envisages continuation of satisfactory progress. She aims for the acceptance and publication of the research article which she submitted to an American journal in 2019. Should circumstances turn out otherwise, she will revise and submit the manuscript to another American or British journal. The researcher also plans to attend domestic conferences and to present at conferences abroad, as soon as international travel resumes. She aspires to spend ample research time in paving the way for new topics and methods of investigation, so as to begin preparations for more articles and a second monograph in the foreseeable future.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Actual expenditure for both article costs and travel expenses were less than anticipated, principally due to a research trip to Europe in March 2020which was cancelled due to public health concerns surrounding the COVID-19 situation.
