Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Following the publication of a monograph in early 2020, the researcher has continued steadily with her endeavors. The researcher thus considers that the project is progressing at a reasonable rate. Due to the effects of the global pandemic, travel opportunities have been restricted and the researcher’s participation in conferences has seen limitations. She was scheduled to deliver a paper at an international conference in early 2020, yet the conference has since been postponed to late 2021. Notwithstanding, the researcher has indicated continued interest to the conference organizers and remains prepared to present the findings of her research.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In addition to the conference which has been postponed due to the effects of COVID-19, the researcher has submitted a proposal to an international conference which has the possibility of being held online. She is currently working on manuscripts which she plans to submit to international, peer-reviewed journals. The researcher plans to continue with the same line of research in the coming years. There still remain a plethora of material to be unpacked regarding the topics at hand, and work will continue towards the eventual completion of a second monograph.

Causes of Carryover |
Actual expenditure indicates that travel expenses were significantly less than anticipated, due to the ongoing effects of the global pandemic, which rendered not only international but also domestic travel inadvisable. These expenses are to be used instead towards reference books on art history as well as day trips to local research sites, with the researcher remaining all the while in compliance with prefectural health and safety measures.
