| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This year's research achievements were (1) intensive fieldwork and data collection on three dialects of Yaeyaman, and (2) research that expands work on the honorific system of Yaeyaman to the description of and analysis of other languages, namely Korean, Javanese, and Hindi.
I undertook major fieldwork in September 2022, focusing attention on Kohama, Hatoma, and Aragusuku. Aragusuku was previously unstudied in this project, and during fieldwork I was able to collect basic data from this highly endangered variety.
I also published two papers this year on the semantics of honorific systems in Hindi and in Javanese. While the topic of these papers deviates from the original focus of this research project (the verbal system of Yaeyaman), the research represents an extension of this work.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
A combination of personal and professional obligations prevented me from doing additional fieldwork this year. I made a long trip during the summer break of September 2022, but teaching and other work obligations prevented me from doing follow up fieldwork.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I am planning to complete all fieldwork for the project during the 2023 fiscal year, as well as continue my efforts in making the research results available through archiving. I will thus make one or more short fieldwork trips to fill in gaps in my transcriptions and in understanding certain grammatical patterns, and work towards archiving a number of recordings.

| Causes of Carryover |
I originally planned to make two short fieldwork trips after my long trip of September 2022, in order to finalize my transcriptions of certain recordings and to confirm certain grammatical patterns. My other work and personal obligations, however, prevented me from making these trips. Therefore, I will make one or more short fieldwork trips to get final data (transcriptions and grammatical elicitations) during the summer of 2023 and/or the beginning of 2024, focusing on getting additional data for Hatoma and Kohama in particular.
