Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the previous academic year, I have examined a general model of multi-stage choice which contains many influential recent advances as special cases. In particular, the first-stage structure of reference-dependent choice procedures is the main factor that differentiates it from filter-based multi-stage choice procedures. I have characterized the structural properties of various reference-dependent choice procedures. In light of the characterizations, I demarcate the boundary of reference-dependent choice and filter-based choice procedures, which also shed light on the behavioral structures differentiating these two lines of models. For the filter-based procedures, I have provided a systematic analysis from the most general case with minimal structural properties to the most specif cases (e.g., rational shortlisting method and choice under limited attention). This work clarifies the relationship between these influential models. Along the process, I also discovered noval characterization and identification results. I have presented my papers several times this year and submitted two papers to academic jouranls. Both are now under revision. The revision process will also help nurture new ideas to explore.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
I have presented the findings in various conferences and workshops. The discussion in these events greatly promote the advancement of this research. In particular, I have received a lot of helpful comments and advice in the Econometric Society workshop at Delhi school of economics and micro theory workshop at Hitotsubashi University. Besides, I have received the review comments from two of my submissions, which provide constructive suggestion toward the path to follow.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In this academic year, I plan to investigate the behavioral properties of reference-dependent choice procedures. In the first place, this investigation will provide testable conditions for different reference-dependent choice procedures. In the second place, draw the boundary between reference-dependent choice and filter-based procedures can enhance the robustness of applications. Indeed, arbitrariness remains an issue when the same choice pattern can be explained by different choice procedures. I will switch to online methods for discussion with collaborators under current situation.

Causes of Carryover |
The main spending in the next year will be manuscript submission fee and publication fee as some of the target journals has begin to collect submission and publication fee (e.g., Theoretical Economics). In the second half of this academic year, conference and workshop presentations are also scheduled.
