Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This year, my main work has involved summarizing results from academic articles. I have written two articles as part of the research project. The first paper focuses on differentiating the roles of reference alternatives. In this article, I have refined the explanations to better illustrate the relationships and differences between various roles of the reference alternatives, including the endowment effect, loss aversion, and reference-dependent shortlisting. The second article summarizes the results related to the coalitional multi-self model, which demonstrates the connection between the dual-self and multi-self models. The analysis provides valuable insights into modeling choices across different settings. I have also developed new ideas on random choice models that can make use of the results I have achieved so far. In particular, both the reference-dependent shortlisting model and the coalitional multi-self model shed light on the development of random utility models. The former can be directly transformed into the random choice framework. The latter leads to the insight that the underlying selves can exhibit structure. My primary objective for the upcoming academic year is to publish the results of my research and begin analyzing the random utility models.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
"The research has been progressing smoothly, and I have made significant revisions to both papers. I believe that the new exposition can greatly enhance the impact of the research. In particular, I have connected the two-system model to the coalitional multi-self models, which has opened up new avenues for experimental, applicational, and theoretical studies. Moreover, I have developed new ideas for modeling and applying random choice models, which I believe will be of interest to the research community.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
My primary goal for the upcoming academic year is to present the research results in workshops and conferences and revise the manuscripts based on the feedback received. I plan to present at two international conferences and two domestic workshops. I will revise and polish the articles according to the comments and suggestions received at these events. The ultimate aim is to publish the articles of this project within this fiscal year. Further, I will start developing the new project.
|
Causes of Carryover |
In the previous two fiscal years, planned conference and workshop travels were canceled due to COVID. As a result, article submissions were postponed due to delayed feedback from conferences and workshops. For the upcoming fiscal year, the major expenses will include fees for conferences and workshops, language editing services, article submission fees, and open access fees.
