| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This research analyzes the effects of the formation of bilateral free trade agreement (FTA hereafter) on the investment of multinational firms whose origin is from outside the FTA regions. In the previous year, I mainly collected tariff data and conducted more detailed empirical analysis. I came up with meaningful results, based on which I wrote the first draft. I also attended the workshops within the university, where I received comments from the audience, such as the ones organized by the Institute of Comparative Economic Studies.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
I was not able to attend the scheduled conferences due to Covid-19, since most of them were cancelled. Thus the feedback from my counterparts is far from enough for me to revise the paper and submit to refereed journals.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
With the long-lasting impact of Covid-19, it would be practical to participate in more online conferences to present my work, both domestically and overseas.
Meanwhile, using the the same dataset, I also investigated how FDI can affect the employment at home. I will continue working on that issue in the incoming year.

| Causes of Carryover |
Due to Covid-19, all the business trips were canceled. In the new fiscal year, I will use the amount for updating research facilities and going on domestic trips (if the situation allows).
