| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
As mentioned in the research plan for FY2019, this research aims to fulfill the second research objective by preparing data and assessing parenting practices with the two-dimension methodology. Microdata on the two dimensions and province-level data are both necessary. After searching a series of database, I find that the CFPS (China Family Panel Studies) is proper and available for the individual-level characteristics.
Merging the individual-level data with province-level data, this study investigates whether and how parenting practices are affected by unbalanced educational resource distribution across regions. Adopting the dimensional approach, I show that in provinces with greater access to higher education, parents are more likely to adopt authoritative parenting practices, which are considered the most effective parenting style.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
As mentioned above, data preparation is finished and the empirical analyis is on-going. At the current step, the empirical results show that parenting behavior is affected by the unequal allocation of eduational resources. I have finished writing the working paper which summarizes these results and submitted it to an international academic journal.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The current version of my working paper is under-review. Before publication, a lot of revision and correction will be needed even though everything goes well. I will still keep working on the empirical analysis and revising the academic writting. In order to get suggestion and advice from peers, I will attend several seminars or conferences in the related fields.

In Fy2020, research funds will be used for purchasing material and supplies, books, updating software (STATA 16), and other objectives.
