Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
From 2018 to 2022 there was some significant progress in many areas, overall, even if the project did not develop in the way that was envisioned at the start. The biggest developments came about in the empirical side of the project. A better understanding of how the project needs to develop empirically become paramount. For that purpose, progress was made in technical mastery of related techniques, mainly natural language processing methods and the use of Python and sci-kit, and understanding of the full range of empirical methods available and development of data sources, such as prospectus data. The use of some said techniques in other, unrelated projects, allowed them to progress well.
In addition, discussions with financial regulators and ex-central bankers reinforced the fundamental insights in the project and during said discussions, there was a positive reception about the overall modelling already done and the fundamental insights the project already presents.
This is not, however, the full range of goals that was proposed initially and the lack of achievement of said goals was hampered by several factors. The most prominent of these included Covid and travel restrictions, family matters of the lead researcher and additional unexpected teaching duties in every year from 2018 to 2022.
