Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Although nonstandard work arrangement has grown in popularity among employers over the past few decades, we still know little about non-standard workers’ attitudes and behaviors towards standard workers. My research attempted to further develop our understanding of conflict dynamics between standard and non-standard workers. Specifically, my colleagues and I examined i) how non-standard workers (especially, freelance professionals) develop formal and informal relationship with standard workers and ii) how they respond to standard workers’various voice behaviors. My findings show that the ways in which regular journalists had controlled freelance journalists at work affected the relationship between class-based and occupation-based rationality freelance journalists held in their minds.
