Research Project

Project/Area Number 18K12842
Research InstitutionKyushu University

Schroeder Martin  九州大学, 工学研究院, 准教授 (10793771)

Project Period (FY) 2018-04-01 – 2021-03-31
KeywordsProject management / Automotive industry
Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Research did not progress beyond literature review of project management in the automotive industry. The review could only verify that most research on the subject has been done on carmakers, not on suppliers, suggesting that the research project is addressing an issue that is understudied.
Moreover, the existing scholarship on the subject suggests that carmakers use highly similar project structures, suggesting that nationality is not an influential determinant of project management structure. However, as research on auto parts suppliers is very limited, it is still necessary to carry out the planned research to investigate potential differences between German and Japanese parts supplier' project management.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

4: Progress in research has been delayed.

Reason

Due to unforeseen involvement in other research projects and tasks (data and fact collection on behalf of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) for material to be supplied to G20 Environmental Ministers Summit in Karuizawa on June 15 & 16, 2019), work on the research project did not progress as planned.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

Due to delayed research, it is only planned to finally start the project. Currently, no change to the original research plan is intended.

Causes of Carryover

Because the project was unexpectedly delayed this year, funding could not be used as originally intended for this project. Therefore, it is requested to utilise these funds in the next fiscal year for the purpose of the research project. The funding should be used to finance data collection and field research with automotive suppliers.
