Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
No significant research achievements have been produced. Regarding the purpose of the research, the P-I still thinks it is a relevant research question. However, while study of secondary literature suggests that the research plan addresses relevant questions, it is clear that empirical research is necessary to properly address the research questions. Regarding the research plan, it was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and it was not possible to reestablish contact with firms that were originally supporting the research plan. The pandemic led firms to avoid non-business interactions. A related issue is that the P-I cultivated firm relationships via regular participation in a lecture series directed at supplier firms coducted by the Research Institute of Automotive and Auto-parts Industries at Waseda University. The institute discontinued this lecture series during the pandemic, which made maintaining relationships difficult. As the research plan hinges on access to firms to investigate their project management routines, the disruption of relationships made the implementation impossible. Thus, the P-I must accept full responsibility for his inability to manage vital firm relationships during the pandemic which would have allowed continuation of the research plan after the pandemic became managable.
