Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Iron oxide nanostructures in the form of one-dimensional nanotubes and two-dimensional nanosheets were formed by anodization and thermal oxidation, respectively. During thermal oxidation of iron foils from 400 to 800oC, the effect of water-vapor presence, generated using a nebulizer was investigated. The water-vapor assisted thermal oxidation promoted formation of denser nanostructures due to a more rapid oxidation process. Improved Cr(VI) removal properties were obtained using the nanostructures generated using water-vapor assisted thermal oxidation.
