Design of Yolk-shell Nanostructured Catalysts Encapsulating Basic Aminopolymers for the Creation of Unprecedented Catalytic Properties

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

中空シリカの中空空間に種々の触媒活性種を内包した構造体(Yolk-shell構造体)は、i) 巨大ゲスト分子の内包、ii) 内包した触媒活性種の凝集・溶出抑制による触媒再利用性の向上、iii) シェル構造の精密制御による分子選択性の付与といった、高度な触媒を設計する上での魅力的な数々の特性を有している。本研究では、中空シリカの中空空間に金属ナノ粒子とともに塩基性アミノポリマーを内包し、金属ナノ粒子と塩基性アミノポリマーの協奏作用によって誘起される特殊反応場を有するYolk-shell構造触媒の開発と触媒反応への応用を行った。
アミノポリマーの一つであるpoly(ethyleneimine)(PEI)と金属ナノ粒子の凝集体を鋳型とすることで、金属ナノ粒子とPEIが内包された中空シリカ構造体を一段で合成する手法を開発した。Pdナノ粒子とPEIを内包した中空シリカ構造体をアルキンの部分水素化反応に応用したところ、PEIの強い被毒作用により高いアルケン選択性を示すことを見出した。アミノポリマーはアニオン性分子に対し高い吸着能力を有する。Pd合金ナノ粒子とPEIを内包した中空シリカ構造体をCO2の水素化反応に応用したところ、100℃、2.0 MPaという比較的温和な反応条件下においても触媒回転数(TON) 2500以上という既存の触媒を凌駕する触媒活性が発現することを見出した。いずれの反応においても、シリカシェルの保護効果により触媒性能の低下なく繰り返し利用できることも確かめられた。
中空シリカのナノ空間を利用する触媒設計アプローチは他の触媒反応に対しても有効であると考えられ、優れた活性・選択性・耐久性を有する新規固体触媒創製のための触媒合成基盤技術を確立することができた。
