Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the final year research, we found that the stretching direction plays an important role for the plastic deformation mechanism. The anisotropy of both the crystalline phase and the tie molecules between the crystallites is responsible for the different morphologies during the deformation. These findings will contribute toward better understanding of the development of PP morphology in the drawing process and provide the necessary information for engineering microporous PP films. During the entire research periods, we propose new ideas for material design not only in extrusion, but also in injection molding. Moreover, knowledge to control the rheological properties including drawdown force using nucleating agent would be useful for troubleshooting of actual polymer processing operations.
