Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Healthcare providers would struggle to collect precise patient information and match individuals to their medical records. There are several human factors that can cause patient misidentification, including communication or human errors in healthcare work. In addition to conventional patient confirmation, to use of biometrics for automated patient identity verification can be expected to reduce patient misidentification problems. Biometrics using medical images have high versatility for verifying a patient’s identity, and have high feasibility for applying under a routine clinical examination. We believe that our technique can be used as a patient confirmation tool during frequently performed CT examinations.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
