Outline of Annual Research Achievements

The first of the two systematic reviews have been published with the UK team ( October 2021). The paper is called Palliative Care interventions in the intensive care unit and it is published in the Journal of intensive Care. I am in the process of completing the second systematic review and submitted to publication. The focus of the second paper is on Advanced care planning in the intensive care context. A session on palliative care decision-making is planned for the European conference of Palliative care, where I will present the findings of this project as an invited speaker. An editorial is submitted to publication with regards to the gaps in research within the intensive care and palliative care. This work will be communicated within the research blog of the European Association of palliative care.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

4: Progress in research has been delayed.

Reason

Due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic all face to face interviews and focused groups were not able to be performed. Also, the business trips to the UK to progress with this site of research had to be postponed, I was not able to travel there to complete work.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

second paper will be completed by July 2022
interviews in Japan will be completed by August 2022
Interviews in the UK will be completed in October 2022
data analysis of the interviews will be completed in December 2022
report and paper for the interview phase will be completed in March 2023.

Causes of Carryover

I was not able to complete the face to face interviews, hence I saved the money from last year, to be able to complete it in 2022
