Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Towards an efficient error-resilient VR video streaming, I focused on two major aspects in this fiscal year.
1. finish a survey on the VR video streaming, which is a starting point for future research. The surveys covers the VR video encoding, transmission, recovery and its adaption on various kinds of networks. 2. design a error resilient VR video streaming method by solving the source/channel coding issue. This method jointly considers the VR video features and the network issues, and provides much better result over existing schemes.
Parts of the results have already been published in journal (e.g. Signal processing) and conference papers, and some results are under review.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
According to the schedule, we focus on the survey and design the source/channel coding scheme for the error resilient VR video streaming. From our achievement, we can find the progress is smooth.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Next year I will focus on the VR video streaming considering more network issues, such as the physical layer information, the joint encoding and transmission, etc. The inherent mathematics problem will be solved and simulations will be conducted to verify the results.
We hope this can help provide high quality VR video streaming to the users.

Causes of Carryover |
I shorten the duration of the travel supported by this project, and I can also afford more trips in the next.
