Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The Pneumatic Muscle Actuators (PMAs) were successfully implemented on the gait training system with both leg robotic orthosis and the Body Weight Support (BWS) system. The active BWS system powered by the PMAs can implement various of unloading force strategy as the unloading force could flexible change during subject walking. An experiment was to investigate the influence of the active BWS system in comparison with the Counter Weight (CW) system on the abnormal gait. The result showed that the high potential implementation of the active BWS system in clinical practice as an intervention. The gait parameter of the abnormal gait was altered and positively changed under th active BWS system. The better results form the active BWS system were observed in comparison with the CW system.
