Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The past year saw the completion of data collection, the start of analyses of data collected earlier, and progress on writing up for publication. Specifically, the final group of children was tested in the "chimpanzee versus robot" ("fatal accident") experiment;analyses will soon start on their verbal, eye-movements and physiological responses to the animations they observed. An agreed collaborative will investigate how chimpanzees will respond to the same set of animation scenes. We ran a final online survey, comparing Japanese and Western attitudes towards euthanizing nonhuman animals. Preliminary analysis indicates some striking differences between the two groups of participants (all dog owners). Preparation of several articles for publication in the next two years is ongoing.
