Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study develops spatial computable general equilibrium (SCGE) models considering agglomeration economies. Using these SCGE models, we assessed the impact of previous highway developments on the population distribution. The results showed that the highway developments between 1960 and 2005 lead to economic agglomeration in metropolitan areas.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究により構築されたSCGE分析の基本的枠組は，政策の長期的効果を把握するための基礎となり得るものである．さらに，この枠組みは，既存の（集積の経済を考慮していない）SCGEモデルと整合させているため，その拡張が容易であるという特徴を持つ．それゆえ，本研究成果の簡単な応用により，本研究で実施した“交通基盤整備が都市経済に与えた影響評価”だけでなく，様々な政策の長期的効果分析を実施することができる．すなわち，土木計画学・経済学分野や実務で実施されている多様な政策分析への応用・発展が可能であるため，その波及効果は大きいと期待できる．
