Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、関谷らが世界に先駆けて開発に成功した伸縮性エレクトロニクス技術を用いて、動きのある生体内環境(動的応力、柔軟性、体温、体圧)を「試験皿(シャーレ)」内に精細に作り出すことを目的とする。この動的な“疑似体内環境”で、細胞培養しながら、各種動的細胞*注【血管内皮、筋組織、骨】の生体活動電位の計測、顕微分光手法を同時に実施可能なストレッチャブルシステムを実現する。動的応力を印加しながら細胞培養することで、細胞の本来の強度を実現しつつ、その細胞の活動電位計測や電気・光刺激できるシステムを構築する。最終的には、大阪大学医学部を中心とした医療機関にてその有用性を検証することで、次世代医療に貢献する。

最終年度である今年度は、昨年度までに実現してきた100%を超える生体適合性伸縮電極とフレキシブル生体信号増幅回路を集積化し、そのシステムとしての性能を検証することに重点を置き取り組んできた。実際に柔軟電極とフレキシブル生体信号増幅回路を集積化したところ、柔軟電極がアンテナのような役割を果たし、増幅回路が本来持つ性能が保てないことが分かった。この原因を考察する中で、周辺の外乱ノイズ(主には電源ノイズ、周辺の計測機器が出すノイズ、電磁波など)の影響を大きく受けてしまい、計測が大きく乱されてしまうことを突き止めた。そこで、生体信号増幅回路を従来の単一信号増幅設計から、差動増幅設計へと回路を作製することで、この課題を克服することに成功した。本成果は、エレクトロニクスとして世界最高峰の欧文学術論文誌であるNature Electronics誌に掲載された。

このようにように作製したデバイスを用いて、生体細胞の活動電位を計測するとともに、電気的および光刺激を与えることができるLED光源を搭載させて、システムの性能を検証することに成功した。
