Outline of Annual Research Achievements

事業最終年度にあたる本年度は、国内の研究分担者、並びに、本研究課題が連携するPerso-Indicaプロジェクトのメンバーが、前年度までに行ってきた近世南アジア各地の翻訳活動とその成果である翻訳文献に関する調査で収集した情報の整理と文献の読解・分析を行った。それらの成果の一部は、研究代表者を組織者として2024年3月に東京で開催された国際ワークショップ「近世南アジアにおける言語・文化横断的な翻訳とテキスト伝播(Translation and Textual Transmission across Languages and Cultures in Early Modern South Asia)における研究報告、共同研究者であるFabrizio Speziale氏と研究分担者を共編著者とする雑誌特別号、論文などとして発表された。国際ワークショップには、Fabrizio Speziale氏がコメンテータとして参加し(オンライン)、また、近世南アジアにおけるアラビア語文献とその翻訳を専門とするSimon Leese氏をオランダ・アムステルダム大学から招聘して、近世南アジアにおける多言語併用状況についてより網羅的な認識を共有した。
東京開催の国際ワークショップは、サンスクリット語文献のペルシア語翻訳と並んで、サンスクリット語文献の現地語翻訳に関する研究を含む点が特徴的である。後者はこれまで「現地語化」の概念・枠組みで議論され、現地の価値観や美学に基づいて「原典」が改変される側面に焦点が当てられてきたが、近世期には「原典」に比較的忠実な翻訳もみられた。近年の翻訳学では「翻訳」の多様性・多義性を前提とした議論・分析が活発であるが、サンスクリット語文献の現地語・ペルシア語翻訳に見られる多様性を包括的に把握するうえで翻訳学の概念・枠組みが有効である可能性が確認された。
