Outline of Annual Research Achievements

In the fiscal year of 2020, the research was planned to be conducted in collaboration with Prof. Geiger at the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) of the University of Strasbourg in France from 4/2020 until 8/2020 and then in collaboration with Prof. Hilty at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich from 9/2020 until 3/2021. However, due to the pandemic situation the planned foreign research stays had to be postponed. Nevertheless, the research project progressed by conducting online surveys in all the four studied countries, i.e. Japan, France, Germany and US. The data were collected in 7-8/2020. In addition, the analysis of collected data was started and first partial findings were presented on a workshop abroad.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

Although many of research goals planned for the fiscal year of 2020 were achieved, there was a slight delay caused by the fact that foreign research stays could not be conducted in the year of 2020. On the other hand, the progress was achieved by using modern online communication technologies. The online surveys were conducted in all the studied countries and the analysis of collected data was started. The delays were caused in the way that several workshops had to be cancelled or postponed. Similarly, the planned foreign research stays had to be postponed to the next fiscal year.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

In the fiscal year of 2021, the foreign research stay is planned at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich from September 2021 until March 2022. This will allow to proceed further with the collection and analysis of documents and materials dealing with the German and EU laws. In addition, the analysis of collected data from online survey will be continued and its results will be summarized in research papers and presented at international conferences.
