Research Abstract

重イオン核反応によって、未発見の非常に原子番号の大きな元素の原子核を合成し、その核崩壊を観測することにより、日本初となる新元素の発見を目指す。また現在までほとんど研究がなされていない、原子番号104以上の元素の化学的性質の研究を行い化学における新領域の開拓を目指す。
上記研究を行うため理化学研究所の加速器から供給される大強度重イオンビームと、現在研究に供されている気体充填型反跳分離器GARISを主実験装置として用いるほか、化学研究用として、それに特化した新反跳分離器GARIS-IIを新たに建設し実験に供する。
