Research Abstract

有機ラジカルポリマーを電極活物質として、「有機ラジカル電池」のプロトタイプを試作、軽量かつ成型性に優れる有機材料の特徴に基づく高いエネルギー密度と、ラジカル種の高速電子移動に由来するパワー密度をあわせもつ、類例のない電池特性を予備的に実現している。本研究は、有機ラジカル種の電子移動とそれにともなうイオン輸送特性の解明に基づく革新的有機電極材料の創出と、SOMO(半占有分子軌道)経由の有機電子移動に関する基礎化学開拓を目的とする。有機ラジカル種の基礎化学に立脚した合理的分子設計により、エネルギー密度と出力パワーを向上させ、安全・環境適合の次世代二次電池として提示する。
