Research Abstract

本研究では,熱帯太平洋域の西縁の3地点,東縁の2地点から採取された海底コアに含まれる陸上高等植物起源バイオマーカー(生物起源有機分子)の水素同位体比分析を行い,熱帯太平洋東西両縁の過去15万年間の降水量変動を明らかにし,軌道強制力および全球的気候変動との周期と位相の関係を検討することにより,熱帯太平洋対流活動が気候変動の駆動過程であるのか受動的応答過程であるのか判断する.あわせてアーキア起源脂質を利用したTEX86古水温推定法を用いて海面温度の復元を行い,大気対流活動と海面温度との対応関係を確認する.特に過去2回の融氷期については時間分解能を高めて分析を行い,大気二酸化炭素濃度,南極気温,グリーンランド気温等の変動との位相関係(先行・遅延の関係)を検討し,気候変動を駆動する諸過程のなかで,熱帯対流活動がどのような役割を果たしたのか手がかりをつかむ.
