Research Abstract |
One of the most important cultural properties in Japan is classical manuscripts and printed texts. However, at this moment in time, the contents of extant texts are difficult to grasp. Therefore, I have advocated the construction of descriptive bibliographic databases. To serve as a model, I have supervised the comprehensive inventory of the treasury of classical manuscripts and printed texts owned by Nishio City Iwase Bunko Library and following the inventory, created a database which opened in November, 2010. The largest and most detailed of its kind, the Iwase Bunko database identifies relationships between materials which have never before been linked. We expect the utilization of this database to greatly enable future research of materials within the library.
