Research Abstract |
This project aims to find new materials and new phenomena in actinide compounds including plutonium, which is difficult to handle experimentally because of its radiation. We developed a sample preparation method using a long-life isotope of ^<242>Pu to enable the precise physical property measurements and succeeded to prepare intermetallic compound PuPd_5Al_2. We also found a new compound NpPd_5Al_2 which showed superconductivity due to 5f-based heavy electron states.
