外部環境応答型の電子スピン構造を有する有機ラジカルの合成

Research Abstract

開殻有機分子は、分子骨格上への電子スピン密度の分布の程度により「電子スピン局在型」と「電子スピン非局在型」に分類できる。日本のオリジナリティの高い分子磁性体研究の発展に重要な貢献をしてきたのは、古くから知られているごくわずかな種類の電子スピン局在型の開殻有機分子に限られていた。従って、新しい骨格・電子系を有する安定なスピン非局在型の開殻有機分子の合成とその電子構造についての研究は未開拓の領域である。
我々は、6-オキソフェナレノキシル(6OPO)と命名できる空気中でも安定な中性開殻有機分子を設計・合成・単離した。6OPOの電子スピンは、分子骨格全体に一定のトポロジー的対称性を持って広く非局在化しており、酸化還元活性な15π型の平面構造を有している。本研究では、この6OPOに対する以下に示した化学修飾を行い、溶液状態における電子スピン構造に関する性質を明らかにした。
(1)相補的水素結合が可能な各種の核酸塩基誘導体を結合させた中性ラジカルを設計し、量子化学計算から分子構造および電子スピン構造についての情報を集積した。また、ウラシル誘導体を結合させた中性ラジカルを合成し、ESR/ENDOR/TRIPLE測定により電子スピン構造を決定した。
(2)拡張されたπ共役系を有する電子供与性分子である1,6-ジチアピレンを6OPOに結合させた中性ラジカルを設計・合成した。そして、溶液状態における溶媒、温度等に依存・応答した分子内電子移動や会合挙動による電子スピン構造の動的な挙動を明らかにした。
