Research Abstract

ナノ形状を制御した独自の量子ドットを利用することにより偏波無依存な光応答を実現し、光通信のボトルネック問題の解消を目指して研究を実施した。本研究では量子ドット形状の縦横比を制御できるコラムナ状の量子ドットに着目した。コラムナ量子ドットは積層数を変化させることで量子ドットの形状(アスペクト比)を自在に制御できるため、発光波長や偏波特性を同時に制御可能である。この独自のアプローチにより光通信帯域発光と偏波無依存動作を同時に実現して、100nmを超える広帯域で多波長に応答する光アンプ特性を初めて実証した。さらにキャビティ-構造を有する量子ドットの光スイッチデバイスの試作を行い、超高速光パルスの光再生中継機能を明らかにするとともに、超高速利得飽和応答を利用して30Gb/s相当の全光スイッチング動作を確認することができた。これを通じて、実用的な超高速光パルス信号再生処理デバイスとしての有効性を明らかにすることができた。
