Research Abstract |
種々のメダカ骨格異常変異体の原因遺伝子が解明され、脊椎動物共通の骨格形成システムが明らかになった。またメダカ変異体は、ヒト疾患モデルとして重要な実験動物であり、今後もその原因解明に利用できる。小型魚類でメカニカルストレス依存性の筋間中隔形成に働き、細胞外マトリックス蛋白であるぺリオスチンは、そのノックアウトマウスの解析から、切歯萌出、心筋梗塞時の心筋再生に機能することがわかった。従って、小型魚類とマウスを統合的に解析することによって、ぺリオスチンがメカニカルストレスによる組織再生に機能する分子であることが明らかになった。
