Research Abstract |
For a comprehensive understanding of osmoregulatory mechanisms in teleosts, we attempted to clarify cellular and molecular mechanisms of osmoregulation in the gill (chloride cells), intestine and kidney. Considering possible autonomous and hormone-dependent regulations, we indicated that body fluid osmolality in teleosts was controlled by integrated systems equipped with osmosensory mechanisms.
