Research Abstract |
(1) The folkloric texts of Gojal Wakhi were collected and linguistically analyzed. Out of those texts collected, the wedding song named' Sinisay', a representative traditional one was published with a translation and ethno-linguisitic notes. The remaining texts are to be made available either in a printed form or on website. (2) The Gojal Wakhi grammatical system, the verbal one among others, was examined and analyzed. The paper concerning the' ergative' construction and its variations was published. Gojal Wakhi proved to be in process of' ergativity' decay and the probable drive mechanism of this tendency was clarified. (3) Over 11, 000 words, around 3, 000 place names/micro-place names of the whole Gojal Wakhi area included, were so far gathered ; ethnographical data were especially well covered. All the items were re-checked by two informants. However, some items of which meaning was lost remained to be confirmed.
