| Research Abstract |
巨大ハリケーンがミシシッピ湿地林にもたらした災害の実態解明を目的とし、森林破壊・衰退の広域観測、樹木の成長・更新の調査、および樹木の生理的特性の解析を行った。この結果、衛星画像より、直接、間接被害地域、急速な回復地域を推定した。また年輪年代学的解析によりハリケーン後の樹木の急激な成長減退を認めた。さらに侵入種ナンキンハゼは耐水、耐塩性とも、在来種に拮抗することをわかり、植生改変の可能性を示唆した。
