| Research Abstract |
In this project 103 well-respected nursing scholars from Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, The Peoples' Republic of China, including Hong Kong and Macau, The Philippines, and Australia were interviewed to explore their experiences of nursing scholarship and the barriers to, and facilitators of, nursing education and research. Interviews were recorded, transcribed and the data analyzed using content analysis. The themes that arose in all countries included a rising research productivity, research publications, difficulty in writing English, high workloads, and developing collaborations. Participants concluded there needed to be greater collaboration internationally to resources, knowledge and skills about nursing education and research development, but there have been great improvements over the last 15 years.
