| Research Abstract |
本研究においては、英米の倫理学における近年の動物倫理の議論の動向を分析するとともに、動物愛護運動が導入された明治から大正期の日本における動物愛護運動の全貌を明らかにする作業を行った。これらの作業を通じて、「愛護」という言葉に象徴される日本的な動物倫理意識と19世紀から現在にいたる欧米の動物倫理意識の間にある深い溝がうきぼりにされた。それと同時に、英米の倫理学の中でも動物倫理のあり方に変化が生じつつあるということも明らかとなり、次の展開へのヒントを得ることができた。
