Research Abstract |
I have taken up English and Japanese constructions whose forms and meanings do not necessarily show one-to-one correspondence, such as negative, passive, causative, existential and possessive sentences, and subject-verb concord, and examined how their forms correspond to their meanings in such constructions. I have further made clear the syntactic, semantic and/or functional conditions under which such constructions are appropriately used. As a result of my research, I have published four books and eleven articles.
