Research Abstract	本研究は、重症児療育史研究の一環として、重症児問題の社会的受容に重要な役割を演じていた新聞・テレビ等のマスコミ報道、いわゆる重症児キャンペーンの実態を分析・考察することを目的とした。「おばこ天使」とは昭和40年代に秋田県内の女性が東京や大阪の重症児施設へ看護助手等として集団就職していった際に秋田魁新報により女性らに名付けられた名称である。この出来事は新聞各紙に大きく報道され、重症児へ愛の手をさしのべた秋田おばこの人間愛、美談として全国民からたたえられた。しかし、こうした報道は重症児療育における過酷な労働実態を美談として覆い隠す役割も果たしていたと言える。
