Research Abstract |
In this study, I analyzed one of the welfare thoughts of Henri Nouwen. He was a professor at Harvard University who switched careers to work as a care worker at the L'Arche Daybreak in Canada. From the study, I concluded that the fundamental essence of his welfare thoughts and philosophy was "creative weakness"-a spiritual way of living, which uses the helpers' or supporters' "weakness" positively and not negatively. His thoughts revealed a new spiritual perspective of social work practice as a paradox of the modern "strong" and "power" oriented society.
