Research Abstract |
Children with strong frustrations may easily lose their self-control. National differences in the type of mother-child relationships that result in anger prone children have been identified. For example, it is know that insufficient maternal love is the major cause of anger in Japanese children. Conversely, in Nordic countries, a mother restraining a child's freedom is the major reason for anger. And many mothers loose their self-control when hearing the high-pitched voices of their children, which is known to be a characteristic of anger prone people. It is known that such mothers tend to demand child-rearing support.
