Research Abstract

単層炭素ナノチューブや金属内包フラーレンなどの高品質・高効率合成法の開発が重要であるがまだ研究途上にある。ここでは、アーク放電法による炭素クラスター合成時、気相へ昇華した炭素原子がどのようにクラスター集合体を作って行くか、その場測定をし、合成特性をあきらかにしたい。そこで、レーザーミー散乱法を用い、レーザー2重パルス変調法とロックイン検出法を採用した。その結果、アークプラズマ上方で凝集していくクラスター微粒子のサイズと密度を時間・空間分解して測定することに成功した。次に古典的ミー散乱理論を計算し、誘電体球モデルにおける粒子径と2方向(15°と90°)散乱強度比の関係を得た。そして、実験・理論の比較より粒子サイズと密度を見積もることができた。炭素クラスターのレーザーミー散乱測定は世界でも初めての実験と見ている。
