| Research Abstract |
日本列島に生息するニホンジカは遺伝的には、九州、四国、本州西部に分布する南日本グループと、本州東部と北海道に分布する北日本グループに大きく分かれる。2 グループに分かれた原因を解明するために、ミトコンドリアDNA 調節領域の反復配列の変化を調べた。その結果、南日本のシカは九州西部地域で、北日本のシカは近畿地域で、それぞれ最も遺伝的多様性が高く、これらの地域から分布を拡大した可能性が明らかになった。
