Research Abstract

バイオフィルムがひきおこす様々な感染症に関与しているにもかかわらず、これまで生化学研究が進んでいなかったグラム陽性菌のQuorum-Sensingのシグナル産生ペプチダーゼの基質認識機構をStreptococcus属細菌のComAではじめて明らかにした。(ComAはN末側にペプチダーゼドメイン(PEP)をもつABCトランスポーター)PEPは、基質ComCの切断部位近傍のGly-Gly配列だけでなくN末領域の広い領域(-4から-15)にある保存性の高い4つの疎水性残基を特異的に認識することが判明した。このような基質認識機構はきわめてめずらしい。
