Research Abstract |
We investigated the ecophysiological properties of cool-temperature tree species at the northern limit of natural distribution in Fagus crenata. As the results, F. crenata had high assimilation capacity compared with other species and not shown stress responses such as photoinhibition. Leaf properties had plasticity owing to growing conditions, suggesting that the differences in leaf properties diminish environmental stresses.
