Research Abstract

To find a new therapy for treatment of memory impairment in patients with senile dementia, this study investigated mechanisms underlying the memory-enhancing effect of fisetin, a flavonoid, and found that fisetin promoted hippocampal synaptic plasticity by activating ERK signal in a cAMP-independent manner. In addition, a structure-activity study provided a new compound that promotes hippocampal synaptic plasticity with higher potency than fisetin.
