Research Abstract

様々な癌細胞に高発現している内因性レトロウイルス(HERV)抗原に関する免疫学的・分子生物学的な解析を行った結果、1) HERV抗原特異的に抗腫瘍活性を示すCTLを誘導できるペプチド配列(CTLエピトープ)を同定し、さらに、2) 癌細胞におけるHERVの発現が、癌治療上問題視されている悪性因子「癌転移」と「免疫抑制」の両者に深く関与していることを解明した。「ワクチン効果」と「悪性要因除去」という二つの異なるアプローチで宿主免疫を効果的に増強できる可能性を提示し、新たな癌治療法として提案するに至った。
